The members of the Organizing Committee for Preparation and Holding of the Eighth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum have been announced. It is made up of representatives of federal executive bodies, relevant industry departments, business associations, and the expert community. Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak has been appointed Chairman of the Organizing Committee, which includes heads of ministries and departments overseeing energy, foreign economic and foreign policy activities, representatives of Russia’s gas industry giants, experts in international energy cooperation and geopolitics.
“The Eighth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum places an emphasis of the organization’s strategic role as an influential international platform, Russia’s readiness for dialogue on key issues of energy cooperation, and our country’s potential to shape fair and sustainable rules of the game in the global gas market,” noted Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.
The key responsibilities of the Organizing Committee include coordinating interagency cooperation in preparation for the Summit; ensuring the smooth running of protocol and organizational arrangements at the highest level; developing the programme for the Summit, including plenary and working sessions and bilateral meetings; organizing logistical, technical, and information support for the event; and interacting with delegations of participating countries and international partners.
“Hosting such a significant international event underlines Russia’s role as a key player in the global energy market and demonstrates our country’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation in the gas industry. The Organizing Committee is entering the active phase of preparations for the event. We are already working on coordinating the Summit agenda with participating countries, forming delegations, and organizing the infrastructure for the event,” said Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee for the Preparation and Holding of the Eighth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum Anton Kobyakov.
The Summit will become a key platform for discussing the most pressing issues on the international gas agenda. Participants will focus on the prospects for the development of the global gas market, mechanisms for ensuring energy security, innovation and technology in the gas industry, sustainable development cooperation, and carbon footprint reduction.
The Eighth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum will take place in Moscow during the Russian Energy Week International Forum.
