Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of
the Russian Federation Alexander Novak chaired a meeting of the Russian
Energy Week International Forum Organizing Committee in Moscow. The meeting
addressed key organizational and substantive issues related to the preparations
for the Forum, as well as the coordination of Russian Energy Week events with
the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries
Forum (GECF).
The participants in the
meeting noted that the tradition of launching preparations for Russian Energy
Week in advance makes it easier to promote the event at the international
level, develop a detailed business agenda, improve interaction with partners,
and expand the Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for the Fuel and Energy
Industry at two venues.
“Russian Energy Week has established itself as a key international
platform for meaningful dialogue on the development of the fuel and energy
complex. In 2026, we will begin preparations for the Forum well in advance with
the aim of expanding its international reach, strengthening the practical focus
of the business programme, and ensuring the participation of a wide range of
Russian and international partners. Our task is to formulate an agenda that
reflects the strategic priorities of energy policy, the technological
development of the industry, and its role in ensuring sustainable economic
growth,” Alexander Novak outlined.
Topics discussed at the
meeting included the issue of deciding on the dates and location of the Forum,
approving the main parameters for organizing work with participants, and
launching the invitation campaign.
The Manege Central Exhibition
Hall is the proposed venue for the Forum, and Gostiny Dvor has been put forward
as the host venue for the Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for the Fuel
and Energy Industry. The Roscongress Foundation is the front-runner to be the
Forum’s operator.
Significant time was given
over at the meeting to issues regarding the preparations for the 8th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas
Exporting Countries Forum, which will take place in Russia in 2026.
Adviser to the President of
the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Russian Energy Week
International Forum Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov noted: “In preparation for Russian Energy Week, special
attention is being paid to the development of a comprehensive and balanced
programme that combines strategic discussions, practical formats, and an
exhibition. Synchronizing the Forum’s events with the international energy
agenda, including interaction with GECF member countries, will strengthen the
international status of Russian Energy Week and create additional opportunities
for professional dialogue, experience exchange, and the development of
long-term partnerships.”
The meeting also included a
discussion of the logic of the event schedule as it stands right now –
specifically, holding the main business programme of Russian Energy Week in the
initial days of the Forum with the possible participation of representatives of
GECF delegations, holding the Russian Energy Week 2026 plenary session, and
organizing the GECF Summit on the final day, as well as having a Youth Day at
the Forum venue.
It was stressed throughout
that the key focus of preparations for 2026 was still the development of
Russian Energy Week as a key international platform for the energy industry,
combining a business programme, exhibition, and youth agenda.
The Forum will also feature
long-standing events, including the presentation of the Global Energy Prize and
the international media contest ‘Energy of the Pen’ awards ceremony.
In addition, the All-Russian
Media Forum of Professional Excellence ‘Energy of Winners’ will be launched in 2026 to further
the Forum’s humanitarian and social agenda. The project is the brainchild of
the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the ‘Defenders of the
Fatherland’ State Foundation, the All-Russia State Television and Radio
Broadcasting Company, and the Roscongress Foundation.
The goal of the Media Forum is
to help veterans of the special military operation find employment in the fuel
and energy sector, as well as to enhance the prestige of jobs in the industry
and boost the status of blue-collar and engineering professions. The initiative
comes at a particularly timely moment, with 2026 being declared the Year of
Unity of the Peoples of Russia by Decree of the President of the Russian
Federation.
National and regional
television and radio companies will participate in the competition, presenting
original journalistic work, including documentaries, TV and radio programmes,
reports, essays, and special projects dedicated to people in the industry and
opportunities for professional development in the fuel and energy sector. The
works will be evaluated by a jury of respected industry professionals based on
historical accuracy, professionalism, depth, and originality of presentation.
The meeting also addressed
issues related to the development of the Russian Energy Week 2026 business
programme, the curation of the exhibition, the provision of event security, and
the promotion of the Forum in Russia and abroad. Participants stressed that
members of the Organizing Committee, federal executive bodies, partner
companies, and industry associations needed to be more active in providing
information support for the Forum.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the proposal was made to record the decisions made on the preparations for the Russian Energy Week International Forum, as well as on issues of coordinating them with the preparations for the GECF Summit, in the minutes of the Organizing Committee and begin their practical implementation.
